This layer cake-friendly project is perfect for showcasing your favorite fabrics. As shown in the photos, you can mix colorful prints and coordinating fabrics and add decorative buttons, ribbon, floss, or yarn for a fun personalized finish. Simply fuse a little, cut a little, sew a little—and you're done!

Designed to hold standard gift cards measuring approximately 3⅜" x 2⅛", this is a wonderful project for birthdays, holidays, teacher gifts, thank-you gifts, stocking stuffers, and more.

• Makes 2 Keeper Style or 4 Tag Style holders

Supplies

• Two 10" squares of coordinating fabric
• Keeper Style only: One 3" x 10" piece of accent fabric
• Two 10" squares Fusi-Bond Lite fusible web by Lazy Girl (SLG101)
• One 10" square Stiff Stuff Firm Interfacing by Lazy Girl (SLG107SQ)
• One 5/8" or larger button per project
• 1/3 yard floss, ribbon, or yarn for ties per project
• Template: One 8" x 10" piece of template plastic is enough for both projects
• Alternatively, trace/copy the template onto paper and fuse Slicker Iron-On Vinyl (Lazy Girl SLG102) to both sides before trimming

Supply Notes

• Fusi-Bond Lite fusible web by Lazy Girl (SLG101) or another lightweight fusible web may be used.
• Stiff Stuff Firm Interfacing is also available by the bolt (Lazy Girl SLG107).
• Decorative buttons can add a fun finishing touch to each holder.
• Pearl cotton embroidery floss size 3 is recommended; size 5 also works well.

Construction Notes

• Use 100% cotton quilting-weight fabric.
• Use straight and zigzag stitching.
• A size 70/10 or 80/12 Universal or Microtex sewing machine needle is recommended.
• An erasable marking tool is recommended.
• Follow the manufacturer's directions when using fusible products.
• A press cloth is optional when working with fusible interfacing.
• Fray Check liquid seam sealant can be used around buttons for a neat finish.
