One Fabric Version

  • Exterior Fabric: 1 Fat Quarter
  • Lining Fabric: 1/2 yard
  • Batting: 18" x 22"
  • Bias Binding: 2 yards or one 15" x 15" fabric piece
  • Optional Fusible Interfacing: 1/4 yard

Patchwork Version

  • Exterior Fabric: 18" x 22" pieced panel
  • Lining Fabric: 1/2 yard
  • Batting: 18" x 22"
  • Bias Binding: 2 yards or one 15" x 15" fabric piece
  • Optional Fusible Interfacing: 1/4 yard

Other Supplies

  • 1" Webbing: 1-1/2 yards; adjust as needed for your preferred fit
  • Front Panel Zipper: One 8" #5 closed-end zipper; 7" or 9" may also be used
  • Main Zipper: One 12" #5 closed-end zipper
  • Buckle: One 1" side-release buckle
  • Slide Adjuster: One 1" tri-glide slide adjuster

Helpful Tips

  • Additional exterior fabric may be needed when working with a directional print.
  • Bias binding is important for this project because it is easier to manipulate smoothly around curves. Straight-cut binding may be more difficult to work with.
  • When possible, choose zippers with extra-wide zipper tape for easier construction.
