What Is Adire Oniko?

Adire Oniko is a traditional Yoruba tie-and-dye technique where fabric is tightly bound before being immersed in indigo dye. The tied areas resist the dye, creating striking white or light-blue motifs against deep indigo backgrounds. This method has been practiced for generations and remains a powerful expression of African artistry, culture, and craftsmanship.
