Our Story

Sew Creative Lounge is a vibrant creative community and educational space dedicated to preserving the art of sewing and quilting while teaching the world to sew one stitch at a time. Founded by Cecily Habimana and Tisha Thorne, Sew Creative Lounge offers in-person and virtual sewing and quilting classes, membership programs, curated African fabrics, and immersive cultural experiences centered around creativity, confidence, and community. From beginners learning their very first stitch to experienced makers expanding their skills, Sew Creative Lounge creates welcoming spaces where culture and creativity come together through sewing.

With decades of combined experience, Tisha Thorne is widely respected for her vast knowledge as a sewing and quilting instructor, known for her patient teaching style, technical expertise, and ability to inspire students of all skill levels. Cecily Habimana brings a visionary approach to community building, creative entrepreneurship, and cultural storytelling through textiles and design. Together, they have built Sew Creative Lounge into a trusted destination for sewists and quilters around the world—offering classes, memberships, an online fabric and sewing supply store, and international travel experiences focused on studying African textiles, craftsmanship, and culture.
