Monkey Wrench was used as a symbol to gather all the tools required for the feeling slave’s journey, meaning the physical tools, as well as the mental and spiritual ones.  Jacob’s Ladder was used to help show the direction in which needed to be traveled within the Underground Railroad system. Jacob's Ladder blocks, in  the quilting world, have alternating paths with both dark and light blocks.  SO MUCH HISTORY TO TELL IN SO MANY AMAZING WAYS AND THROUGH QUILTING!!
