This stunning raw edge appliqué wall hanging is an artistic tribute to heritage and individuality — and it's the perfect way to showcase the beauty of African print fabrics.

What to Expect:

Launching in July 2025 and running through September, this quilt-along walks you through the process of creating a bold and expressive portrait quilt using layered appliqué and vibrant textiles. You’ll learn techniques for raw edge appliqué, precision fabric placement, and adding dimension with prints and solids. The pattern features a full-size template with clear, easy-to-follow instructions — ideal for confident beginners and seasoned quilters alike.

This kit is for Batik Members only. Non-member orders will be canceled. 

Kit Contents:

- 14 Assorted 10” squares of African print fabrics for the headwrap, earrings, and necklace
- Fat quarter of African print fabric for the blouse
- Full-size printed template
- Step-by-step instructions for assembling your wall hanging

- Browns & Beiges (for skin tone: face and neck)
- Blacks or Dark Browns & White (for facial features: eyes, eyebrows, eyelashes)
- Pinks or Roses*(for lips and eye detail – approx. 2.5"x4")
- Background fabric: 21"x24"
- Batting: Craft size 46"x36" 
- Backing fabric
